4. Diamonds Reach Brazil and Then South Africa
India was the principal country for finding diamonds for a very long time. In about 1725, however, diamonds were found in Brazil as well! This was fantastic news! To the rest of the world, Brazil is now a new source of diamonds.
Then, in 1866, something huge happened. Diamonds were discovered in South Africa! A young boy discovered a shiny stone at the Orange River. This stone turned out to be a diamond. Not long after, numerous more diamonds were discovered in South Africa. This area was to become the largest diamond-producing area in the world.
