The world gazes at the Met Gala with open mouths every year. In the world of stars and celebrities, there is no better, more expensive, or more talked-about outfit or jewellery than those worn on the red carpet. It was, however, the name of Isha Ambani that came to the fore more than anyone else in 2025 and 2026. Isha Ambani daughter of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, the billionaire couple is not only a business woman but she’s an achiever too. She’s also a big-time fashionista. The world goes still when she walks on the Met Gala red carpet. The biggest reason for that, however? Her jaw dropping, breath-taking jewellery.
We at Dishis Designer Jewellery enjoy discussing gorgeous gems and lovely jewellery pieces. So today, let us take you on a fun and exciting journey through Isha Ambani’s most amazing jewellery moments at the Met Gala.

What is the Met Gala? (For Those Who Are New!)

Before going on to discuss jewellery, let’s get a quick understanding of what the Met Gala is. Imagine the largest fancy dress party in the world, except this one is for the wealthiest and most famous people. Once a year in New York City at a location known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, everyone dresses up in super creative and expensive outfits, inspired by a given theme for the year. Red carpet walkers include celebrities, actors, singers and fashion icons who are photographed on the red carpet. It is one of the world’s largest fashion events!
And Isha Ambani? She’s been attending the Met Gala since 2017. That makes six walks down this iconic red carpet, each one of which has left everyone wondering in amazement what she has done.

Now, let’s chat about the most dazzling piece of jewellery Isha Ambani ever wore in a Met Gala. Isha also rocked a double-layered diamond necklace at the Met Gala 2025, somewhat akin to a necklace fit for a king, or queen.
The necklaces were originally created in 1931 for the Maharaja of Nawanagar, who was indeed a real Indian king! The necklace was produced by the prestigious jewellery house of Cartier, France and was designed for the Maharaja to wear a massive diamond known as the “Queen of Holland Diamond” weighing 136 carats. Think of a diamond that heavy – it would be like holding a small toy car that’s made of diamonds!

Maybe the old necklace had been misplaced in the years that followed, but the design persevered. It’s an amazing necklace, and it’s the same one Isha Ambani rocked — and it’s worth more than a billion dollars! It’s truly a staggering amount of more than 800 crores! Can you believe that?
But the best part is that Isha didn’t purchase a new necklace for the occasion. This beautiful piece was hers mother Nita Ambani’s. Isha shared during the event that the majority of her jewellery that evening was from her mother’s personal collection. How sweet is that? It’s a special occasion to wear your mother’s jewellery at the world’s largest fashion event.

The 2025 look was amazing, but the Met Gala 2026 look was out of this world.
We had our theme for 2026, which was “Fashion is Art”— and Isha Ambani was all about that!
She had made her saree with the help of Gaurav Gupta who is a well known Indian fashion designer. However, it was not only the saree that was the problem. It was her blouse! Isha’s blouse was covered with over 1,000 diamonds and precious stones, with a total weight of more than 1,800 carats. It’s almost like wearing an entire jewellery store of your own!
A total of 40 skilled artisans from various parts of India made the blouse. These craftsmen worked with:
Antique Diamonds — special antique diamonds that were cut by hand many decades ago.

Emeralds are beautiful green gems which are rare, and very difficult to come by.
Raw Diamonds in Natural Form — Diamonds are left in their original form with their raw shine called polki.
Kundan, a special Indian technique that uses pure gold foil to set stones
All of these gems were taken from Nita Ambani’s private collection — heirloom pieces that have been carefully collected over many years. So the blouse was not just fashionable. This was a kind of wearing family history and Indian craftsmanship at the same time!

4. The Layered Necklaces — A Story of Old and New Together

Isha additionally wore layered diamond necklaces which complimented her beautiful blouse perfectly at the Met Gala 2026.
They were necklaces containing over 150 carats of old mine cut diamonds. The necklace in the middle featured a beautiful 50-carat emerald at its centre that gave it a lovely emerald green hue.

These necklaces were extra special because of how they were worn. The were not only falling straight down, as most necklaces do now, but they were also falling straight down. Rather, their drapes were called “layered drapes” by her stylist, similar to how a saree is draped on the body. This was an extremely Indian style of jewellery, and it really did the rest of the outfit to look Indian. Her styling expert Anaita Shroff Adajania said beautifully that each stone “carries its own past”—that is, every diamond and emerald had a history, a journey, before it reached Isha’s neck on the world’s most famous red carpet.

5. The Rings, the Brooch, and the Surprise Accessory

Don’t forget the details — in jewellery, sometimes the little things do make a big difference!

• The Rings:

At the Met Gala 2025, Isha wore several rings. Some were from her mother’s jewellery, and one of the larger, more glittering pieces of jewellery caught everyone’s attention, a big diamond ring. She had rings as well, including a special ring from the designer Jean Schlumberger’s famous “Bird on a Rock” collection at Tiffany & Co. This ring featured a small bird with diamonds scattered around it, and a big diamond — it’s like a piece of tiny art!

• The Surprise Brooch:

At the 2025 event, Isha styled a beautiful brooch on her waist instead of wearing it as a traditional pin. The diamonds were in various sizes and the light green drop stones, the brooch was feather shaped. This was indeed a Kalgi, an old Indian jewelled ornament worn by kings and royals originally on turbans. Isha wore it in a new and creative manner!

• The Sarpech:

At the 2026 event, at the back of her saree was a historic Sarpech — another royal ornament that was once owned by the Nizam of Hyderabad, one of the richest rulers in Indian history. It was enough to tell the whole story of India’s Royal history with the help of this piece alone.

6. Why Does Isha Ambani’s Jewellery Feel So Special?

Perhaps you’re wondering — many celebrities end up wearing very fancy jewelry at the Met Gala. What is so special about Isha’s jewellery and why it is so popular?
Here are some easy answers:

• It tells a story.

Her jewellery is not simply high dollar and/or glittery. Each piece has a story: a king or royal family or a tradition. If the story behind the necklace or the Kalgi is known, then it’s even more pretty.

• It celebrates India.

Isha, who wears Indian jewellery techniques such as Polki, Kundan and Jadau with boldness at a function where mostly western style is followed. She displayed the world’s wonder of Indian craftsmanship.

• It connects mother and daughter.

Many of her pieces were from her mother’s personal collection, Nita Ambani. This will make the jewellery warm, personal, not glamorous and with love.
It blends traditional and contemporary elements. Old fashioned heirloom diamonds are interspersed with new necklaces designed by a jeweler. Royal brooches are now used as accessories to the waist. Old fashion turbans transform into contemporary fashion statements. Isha’s jewellery does not go against the rules the right way.

7. What Can We Learn From Isha Ambani’s Jewellery Style?

Though we might not have crores of rupees to buy diamonds, we can still learn so much about the ways in which Isha Ambani wears her jewellery!

• Wear jewellery that means something to you:

Isha chose pieces from her mother’s collection because they had emotional value. You could get bangles from your grandmother or your mom’s mangalsutra as meaningful as the most expensive diamond.

• Mix old and new:

You do not have to always buy new jewellery. Worn in a new and innovative way, old pieces can be absolutely stunning!

• Be proud of Indian jewellery:

From Polki to Kundan to Jadau — Indian jewellery making is thousands of years old and is among the finest in the world. Wear it proudly!

• Try something unexpected:

Isha wore a Kalgi brooch on her waist. So, don’t think brooches can only be worn on the chest! Get creative with accessories!
Every lady is a queen when she wears jewellery at Dishis Designer Jewellery. Whether the diamonds are real or not, it’s the feeling of grace, beauty and confidence that is important.

You can see the wealth and beauty of Indian culture in every step she takes on that red carpet with her necklaces, brooches and diamond studded blouses.
A $100-million Cartier necklace inspired by the Maharaja of Nawanagar, a 1,800-carat diamond blouse created by 40 Indian artisans, every piece she wears is imbued with the soul of India — wrapped up in some of the finest gems.
